Dark Room Safety Info. (MSDS) Assign. part A

Here are some safety guidelines regarding darkroom developing products:

Standard Film Developer:

* what are the health and safety concerns of this product?

This product can cause mild irritation and sensitization to the skin. Inhilation of vapors
can cause irritation to the mucous membranes of the nose, throat and respiratory tract. Standard film developer can also cause you to get headaches, light-headedness, dizziness, nausea and can cause injury to your liver. If this product is ingested it can cause kidney damage. In pregnant women, this chemical may be toxic to the embryo. This product can also cause life threatening asthma.

* what do i do if i get it in my eyes or ingest it?

If you get this product in your eyes: Immediately remove glassware, contacts and flush your eyes for several minutes (15 is good), in the flushing station located in the darkroom. Seek medical help if irritation persists.

If you ingest this product: Immediately drink 3-4 glasses of water - do not induce vomitting. If vomitting occurs - drink more fluids. Seek medical help.



Quick Silver Print Developer:

* what are the health and safety concerns of this product?

This product can cause burns to already damaged skin, as well as discoloration of skin and sensitization. Inhalation of of this product causes the same symptoms as the Standard film developer. ( irritation to nose, respiratory tract, headache and dizziness, etc.) Ingestion of this product can cause intestinal pain, cramps, nausea, vomitting, central nervous systems problems, kidney and liver damage and may cause life-threatening asthma. If you have pre-existing kidney, liver, eye, skin and are sensitive to sodium sulfite - you are more at risk.

* what do i do if i get it in my eyes or ingest it?

If you accidentally get this product in your eyes: immediately remove eyeware and flush eyes for 15 minutes. If irritation continues - flush for another 15 minutes. Seek medical care if irritation continues.

If you ingest this product: Drink 3-4 glasses of water, do not induce vomitting. If vomitting occurs - drink more water. Seek medical advice asap!

Block Stop Bath:

* what are the health and safety concerns of this product?

Causes eye irritation, Inhalation of vapors can cause asthma like symptoms. This product is harmful if ingested.

* what do i do if i get it in my eyes or ingest it?

Immediately remove eyeware and rinse eyes for 15 minutes. Hold eyelids apart from eyes and flush well. Seek Medical Help Immediately!
If you ingest this product Drink 3-4 glasses of water and seek medical help - Do Not induce vomitting - if you vomit - drink more water and don't forget to seek medical help.

Record Speed Fixer:

* what are the health and safety concerns of this product?

This product can irritate and burn your eyes, long-term skin exposure issues include: irritation, redness, cracking and dermititis. This product can cause respiratory issues such as, asthma and irritation. Can also cause intestinal irritation.

* what do i do if i get it in my eyes or ingest it?

Rinse eyes with water if exposed ( remove eyeware) seek medical help is irritation develops or presists.
If you ingest this product - drink 3-4 glass of water, do not induce vomiting and seek medical help.


Archive Fixer Remover:

* what are the health and safety concerns of this product?

Can cause mild irritation to skin if exposed, can absorb into the skin and cause symptoms similar to ingesting ethylene glycol. This product can cause the following problems - Respiratory irritation ( nose and throat) , nausea, vomitting, dizziness, light-headedness, eye irriatation, kidney damage and damage to the embryo and asthma.

* what do i do if i get it in my eyes or ingest it?

Flush your eyes for many minutes ( 15 is good) and seek medical help is irritation persists. If you accidentally ingest this product - drink 3-4 glasses of water and Do Not Induce vomitting - seek medical help asap.

Where are the Material Safety Data Sheets located in Our Darkroom?

In the room right outside the darkroom ( where we dry our prints) their is a book containing all the sheets hanging on the wall. Enter the room : look to the right: hanging on back wall.
