Andre Disderi

I decided to research a little bit about the photographer Andre Adolphe Eugene Disderi mainly because I noticed his name seemed french and it really caught my attention. Andre was born in 1819 in Paris, France. He is well known for the creation of the Carte de Visite, also known as a visiting card, which consisted of a 6x9 photograph on the cover of a card. It sometimes included 10 small images on the front of a single card, which was entirely new to the public at this time. Disderi is also known for inviting the twin-lens reflex camera. He later lost all his money and became "a victim of his own invention" and died alone in 1889 in the Hospital Ste. Anne in Paris.

To the left is an example of his Carte de Visite.

  1. oops - busted. Your post and a post above have really, really similar text, which I suspect means you both copied and pasted a bunch from Wikipedia. I'd much prefer you write the posts in your own language - it doesn't have to be particularly formal, it just needs to demonstrate that you did some research into the material and are thinking about what you found.
