Jila Nikpay was born in Tehran and came to the U.S. in 1973 to study at the UofM. Ahe earned a BFA in studio Arts and MA in photojournalism and taught photography in Minneapolis for more than a decade.
Jila Nikpay is a film maker and photographer. Her work has been featured in many exhibitions since 1980 and is influenced by the traditions of Iranian poetry and Inlamic mysticism.
I find her images mystical and on the dark side. I think there is alot of conversation to be had about her photo's and I love that she is located here in Minnesota.
