Artificial lighting is every kind of light except the bright out door lighting. It can be either the camera flash, inside lamps or exspensive studio lamps.
When using the flash on the camera for color pictures it can cause red eye.
When using lamps or indoor lighting for color film it can also leave a yellowish tint to the pictures. Black and white photos you wont have much of this but it might be harder to achieve true white in the darkroom.
The good thing about artificial lighting is that the photographer can control where the light comes from, how it hits the objects, and how strong or faint the light should be. The photographer can also play around with the lighting and decide what he or she likes best.
