David Hockney was born in Saltaire, Bradford on July 9. 1937. In 1957 he graduated from the Bradford School of Art and studied at the Royal College of Art from 1959-1962. while he attended the Royal College of Art he met RB Kitaj and became instrumental in the founding of the British Pop Art movement. In 1978 Hockney settled on Los Angeles.Hockney has been the subject of countless solo exhibitions worldwide including a major touring retrospective that has been held at several places including, Los Angeles County Museum or Art, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York and Tate Gallery, and London in 1988.
